Latest guidelines for international passengers arriving in India 2022, The Union Home Ministry will reconsider the decision of the resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger flights. The Union took the decision in light of the changing global situation. On Sunday, the Union Health Ministry changed instructions for all international travellers entering India. The travellers must provide 14-day travel details and upload a negative RT-PCR test report to the Air Suvidha portal prior to departure. The new regulations came into effect on December 1st.

The RT-PCR report that will be uploaded must be completed within 72 hours of the trip. According to the guidelines, passengers from “nations at-risk” will be required to take the COVID test after arrival and wait for results at the airport. If they test negative, they must stay at home for seven days before re-testing on the eighth day. The “countries at-risk” include the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, and Israel.

Passengers who are discovered to be symptomatic during screening will be segregated and brought to a medical facility as soon as possible. If they test positive, their contacts will be identified and dealt with according to protocol. Travellers from nations that are not considered “at risk” will be permitted to leave the airport. But they will be required to self-monitor their health for 14 days after their arrival. A small percentage of travellers (5%) will be subjected to random post-arrival testing at the airport.

According to the rules, kids under the age of five are also exempt from pre-arrival and post-arrival testing. They will be tested and treated according to protocol if they are discovered to be symptomatic upon arrival or during home quarantine. Co-passengers in the same row, three rows in front and three rows behind, as well as recognised cabin employees, are all possible contacts in the suspect case. In addition, all community contacts of travellers who tested positive will be quarantined for 14 days.
