Karnataka: Eight students booked for abusing 2 girls using ‘truth or dare’ clips

The city police have filed a case against eight students for participating in the lip-lock tournament at a city flat, which resulted in a viral video. According to police sources, the students were arrested for alleged offences covered by Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), and various sections of the POCSO and IT Acts.

Students Suspended

The video was posted a week ago on WhatsApp by a 17-year-old boy. The students were suspended once the school management became aware of it, according to Mangaluru Commissioner of Police N Shashikumar. The students allegedly got together in February of last year and organised a “truth or dare” competition at an apartment. In the video, a boy and a girl were seen lip-locking while their friends encouraged them. They were both wearing their school uniforms.

According to sources, the lawsuit was filed after investigations showed that all eight lads had sexually abused the two girls in the group on various occasions and in various locations while using video recordings of the sexual acts. N Shashi Kumar, the city’s top cop, said the investigation would be carried out to its logical conclusion. He argued that the college administration should keep an eye on students’ behaviour and report any instances of extreme misconduct and indiscipline to the police.
