Akhilesh Yadav Says of Jinnah, “Read Books,” And Asks BJP on “India Or Pakistan?”

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party. Has doubled down on his remarks about Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah; just days after the BJP chastised him for lumping Mr. Jinnah and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel into the same category. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, described the remarks as emanating from a man with a “Talibani worldview.”

Mr. Yadav congratulated the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Sardar Patel; on his 146th birthday during an election campaign in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, on October 31. The statement on Pakistan’s founding sparked a big political storm; with the BJP management and AIMIM chairman Asaduddin Owaisi criticizing the Samajwadi Party chief months before the UP elections.

When asked by reporters Mr. Yadav about the incident today at a function, he answered, “Why am I mentioning the circumstances? I would recommend that you reread the books.”

The BJP has often criticized the Samajwadi Party of Islamic appeasement; even though the Samajwadi Party has support from both Muslims and Yadavs. Mulayam Singh Yadav, the party president, was known as “Maulana Mulayam” at one point. Jaswant Singh was previously banned from the BJP for reportedly glorifying Pakistan’s founding in a book. on his 2005 visit to Pakistan.
